We are a friendly rural practice in
the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, with an excellent team (list size 6,800).
We are based in the small town of Chipping Norton and cover the
surrounding villages to a radius of about 6 miles. We enjoy training
very much and want to pass on our enthusiasm for general practice
and the care of patients. We look after a wide social mix and a wide
age range. We can also offer experience of a community hospital and
our special interests include paediatrics, terminal care, women’s
health, care of the elderly and minor surgery.
The partners are supported by
experienced GPs who have a long-term commitment to the practice but
are not partners. In addition we work closely with The Lawrence Home
Nursing Team, Chipping Norton Hospital, the Midwives at CNH and
Social and Health Care.
We have a long tradition of training and all our team enjoy taking
part in this. The doctors include two trainers of registrars– Cathy
and Jane. Simon is a very popular medical student tutor with
excellent feedback who is also planning to train registrars. Our
senior partner John is a former trainer and Jonathan and Wendy both
have teaching experience. Our nurses, health visitors, counsellors
and administrative staff also include several trained teachers who
help teach the registrars and medical students.
In addition we teach SHO’s, medical students and nurses and for many
years we have been running very popular monthly education meetings
for the whole team. Our feedback from previous registrars and
Practice Training inspections has been excellent. We are a patient
centred and caring practice and our recent patient feedback was well
above the 75th centile for good patient care. We also feel we are a
modern, organised practice with a focus on prevention and we scored
100% in 3 of the last 4 years on our quality points. Many of our
registrars don’t want to leave and our team includes four previous
registrars.
Some quotes from recent registrars include:
- “excellent teamwork”
- “excellent trainer”
- “a very popular and successful
training practice”
- “I would strongly recommend
this practice to any prospective registrar”
- “extremely effective teaching
style”
- “this teaching practice was
extremely good and will form one of the lasting good memories of
my life”
- “great cakes”
