Practice Nurses
 |
|
Shani Napier, Sue Garden,
Mitch Argument and Jo Tyrrell run daily surgeries and weekly specialised
clinics. This provides general nursing care as well as health promotion,
family planning, cervical smears, immunisation, travel and other
clinics.
If they cannot provide a
particular service they can usually suggest where to go to get
appropriate advice/treatment.

Health Visitors
- Julie Hyland and Sharon Doar are
qualified nurses and midwives as well as health visitors. Julie is
also a community practice teacher and has a special interest in
providing support for those who have experienced bereavement. Julie
also specialises in supporting teenagers.
Sharon
specialises in supporting parents of children with eczema and
behaviour problems. Both health visitors are smoking cessation
advisors and are particularly interested in preventing and advising on
obesity issues. The health visitors work closely with their colleagues
in facilitating post natal and baby feeding support groups and
postnatal depression support.
They can offer researched information on all child and family health
issues.
The health visitors' office and clinic room can be found on the second
floor, easily accessed with prams entering from the surgery car park.
The health visitors are particularly involved with the family centre
that is based at the
ACE Centre on Burford Road.
You can
contact the health visitors direct on 01608 643350. An
answerphone will pick up your message if they are out of the office.

Counsellors
-
Mr Mike Gage and his team are trained counsellors who work
independently but have rooms at West Street Surgery where they see
individuals or couples to help with personal, marital or other problems.
If you ring Mike Gage on 01295 680506 you can make an appointment to see
one of the counsellors in the surgery.
This service is not free, though the practice does have limited funds to
help people in financial need.
Receptionists
 |
|
Our receptionists are here to help you.
Our senior receptionist is Louise
Townsend who co-ordinates the reception team of Annette Pinfold, Pat
Cooper, Peta Simmons, Jill Walker, Donna MacKenzie and Pauline Mason.
All receptionists have extensive knowledge of the facilities and
services available.
If you are unsure of anything, do ask and if you
wish to speak to them in private please say so.

Medical Care Assistants/Phlebotomist
- Chris Clifton and Annette Pinfold
hold clinics for taking bloods (phlebotomy), blood pressure, ECGs,
foot checks, dressings and new patient checks. Chris examines ears
and Annette helps with smoking cessation.
Assistant Doctor
-
The partners are supported by experienced GPs who have a long term
commitment to the practice but are not partners. We are delighted that
Jane Pargeter will continue in a similar capacity but now as an
assistant doctor doing three regular mornings a week.
Registrars
-
For over 30 years we have been an approved "training practice". Fully
qualified doctors in the final part of their training, before becoming
independent practitioners, spend a year working at the surgery. They are
known as Registrars and are very popular with patients.

information on our training programme for Registrars please

Teaching
-
We are approved by Oxford University as a teaching practice and invite
medical students to undertake attachments with us. Please do not feel
obliged for them to sit in on your appointment if, for any reason, you
are not comfortable with this.

teaching programme please
