Under the new GP Contract doctors are no
longer directly responsible for the care of patients 24 hours a day and out
of hours services are organised by the Primary Care Trust in Banbury. The
previous service provided by a deputising service has been replaced with an
out of hours system organised and run by local doctors but primarily based
in Banbury with a mobile doctor available for urgent home visits.
What you should do if you require a doctor on a Saturday morning:
Should you require to be seen by a doctor
please call 0845 345 8995 and an operator will take your details.
Your call will then be passed to the local
emergency clinic at which point the doctor assessing the call will either:
- Arrange for you to be seen at the
emergency clinic in Chipping Norton.
- Call you back to discuss your problem
and offer advice.
- Arrange for a home visit.
Should the doctor decide that you need to
attend the emergency clinic you will be contacted by the receptionist, who
will provide you with the time and location of your appointment.
It is possible that if the local
emergency clinic if full that you will be asked to see a doctor at the
Primary Care Centre at the Horton Hospital in Banbury.
Please note that on Saturday morning you
will no longer be able to call the surgery directly to make and
appointment. However, an answerphone message will provide the
details of the telephone number shown above.
